‘ಮತ್ತಾಕ್ರೀಡಾ’, ‘ಅಷ್ಟಬಾಣ’, ‘ದಶಕ’ ಛಂದಸ್ಸುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗಣಗಳು ‘ಮೌ-ತನೌ-ನನೌ’ ಎಂದು ವಿನ್ಯಾಸಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತವೆ; ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಪರ್ಯಾಯದಲ್ಲಿ ‘ನಲೌ’ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಗುರು ಅಕ್ಷರದ ಪರಿಣಾಮದಿಂದ ವಿಕೃತಿ ಉಂಟಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನಿಯತ ಕ್ರಮವು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಾಗ ಅಥವಾ ಬದಲಾಗಿದಾಗ ಅದನ್ನು ‘ಸಂಕೃತಿ’ (ಮಿಶ್ರ/ಪರಿವರ್ತಿತ ರೂಪ) ಎನ್ನುತ್ತಾರೆ.
