Transliteration

śaṅkhaḥ śuktinakhaḥ śaṅkho vyāghro vyāghranakhaḥ smṛtaḥ / puraṃ palaṅkaṣaṃ vidyānmahiṣākṣañca gugguluḥ

Translation

‘ಶಂಖ’ ‘ಶುಕ್ತಿನಖ’ ಎಂಬ ಹೆಸರಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ; ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದೇ ‘ಶಂಖ’ ಎಂದೂ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ‘ವ್ಯಾಘ್ರ’ವನ್ನು ‘ವ್ಯಾಘ್ರನಖ’ ಎಂದು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ‘ಪುರ’ವನ್ನು ‘ಪಲಂಕಷ’ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿ; ‘ಮಹಿಷಾಕ್ಷ’ವನ್ನು ‘ಗುಗ್ಗುಲು’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
