Ambarīṣa’s Prayers to Sudarśana and the Deliverance of Durvāsā
sa tvaṁ jagat-trāṇa khala-prahāṇaye nirūpitaḥ sarva-saho gadā-bhṛtā viprasya cāsmat-kula-daiva-hetave vidhehi bhadraṁ tad anugraho hi naḥ
This verse portrays the Lord as jagat-trāṇa (protector of all worlds) who is especially invoked to remove the wicked and safeguard dharmic devotees; the prayer seeks the Lord’s intervention for the devotee’s welfare and peace.
Although Durvāsā offended him, Ambarīṣa remained tolerant and prayed that the brāhmaṇa be blessed, recognizing that a brāhmaṇa’s favor and the Lord’s grace are essential for the well-being of his dynasty.
Practice humility and restraint when wronged, avoid escalating conflict, and seek the welfare of others—even opponents—while depending on divine justice rather than personal vengeance.
