Sage Parāśara (teaching Maitreya)
This verse stresses that the body is not the true Self; therefore, claiming ownership over it is ignorance, and recognizing this supports detachment and liberation.
He points out that even sons and grandsons arise from the body, yet the wise do not treat the perishable body as 'I' or 'mine'—undermining the basis of attachment.
By separating the Self from the perishable body, the teaching aligns the seeker toward the Supreme Reality beyond matter—ultimately oriented to Vishnu as the sustaining, transcendent ground of liberation in Vaishnava thought.
