The Rakṣas-slayer, of universal sway, hath approached the womb, the iron-fast; within the drōṇa he hath taken his seat upon the common session.
In this adhyāya’s Purushamedha setting, the emphasis is symbolic and totalizing: human roles and cosmic functions are gathered into yajña as an offering of the whole social-cosmic order, framed by Purusha-sūkta-style universality.
Vaiśvānara is Agni as the universal, all-pervading fire—protector and carrier of offerings—praised with solar splendor and as the light of ṛta, so that sacrificial fire and sun are seen as one pervasive power sustaining the rite.
The Ṣoḍaśin cup is installed and offered for Mahendra (Indra) as a climactic Soma moment: Indra is praised and invited to drink, and the sacrificer seeks śarman (protective shelter), strength, and prosperity through Indra’s Soma-delight.
