Frequently Asked Questions

It provides the foundational yajus for beginning and securing the Darśa–Paurṇamāsa sacrifice—entering vrata, preparing implements and substances, purifying them, and protecting the rite from obstruction.

Savitṛ functions as the divine ‘impeller’ (prasavitṛ) whose onward impulse authorizes ritual actions—taking up, arranging, and purifying—so the human act aligns with cosmic order (ṛta).

The pavitra is repeatedly consecrated as the instrument that makes offerings ritually fit; its imagery of flawless straining, aided by solar purity and Viṣṇu’s purifying power, embodies the chapter’s core theme of sanctification through process.
