Arjuna–Duryodhana Engagement and Admonition
सोउ्द्य कर्ण मया सार्ध व्यवहृत्य महामृधे । ज्ञास्यस्यबलमात्मानं न चान्यानवमंस्यसे,कर्ण! आज इस महासंग्राममें मेरे साथ भिड़कर तू अपनेको भलीभाँति निर्बल समझ लेगा और फिर कभी दूसरोंका अपमान नहीं करेगा
saudyā karṇa mayā sārdhaṁ vyavahṛtya mahāmṛdhe | jñāsyasy abalam ātmānaṁ na cānyān avamaṁsyase, karṇa ||
អរជុនបាននិយាយថា៖ «កರ್ಣា! មកចុះ—ចូលប្រយុទ្ធជាមួយខ្ញុំក្នុងសង្គ្រាមដ៏ធំនេះ។ ពេលបានប៉ះទង្គិចជាមួយខ្ញុំក្នុងយុទ្ធដ៏ខ្លាំងក្លានេះ អ្នកនឹងដឹងច្បាស់ពីភាពខ្សោយរបស់ខ្លួន ហើយមិននឹងមើលងាយអ្នកដទៃទៀតឡើយ»។
अर्जुन उवाच
The verse targets arrogance and contempt: true worth is tested through action, and a warrior should restrain the impulse to belittle others. It frames battle not merely as violence but as a proving ground for humility and disciplined speech.
Arjuna directly addresses Karna with a martial challenge, urging him to fight in a great encounter. Arjuna predicts that the experience will reveal Karna’s limitations and curb his habit of insulting others.
