As a colophon, the verse does not add new instruction; it frames the preceding discourse as Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s authoritative counsel within a diplomatic mission, implicitly emphasizing that attempts to uphold dharma through persuasion and peace precede and morally condition any resort to war.
The text formally closes a chapter in the Udyoga Parva, identifying it as part of the Bhagavad-yāna (Kṛṣṇa’s embassy) and as Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s speech, signaling a transition to the next unit of the story.
