Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the dharma of hospitality and royal responsibility: a ruler should honor and provide for a distinguished guest and his retinue generously, even when political circumstances are strained.

Dhṛtarāṣṭra declares that he will supply Kṛṣṇa (and those who come with him) with food and provisions in abundance—eight times the expected measure—signaling formal welcome and diplomatic courtesy in the lead-up to major conflict.
