Duryodhana’s Reassurance and Force-Praise to Dhritarashtra
jetuṁ samagrāṁ senāṁ me vāsavo ’pi na śaknu yāt | hantuṁ kṣayyārūpeyāṁ brahmaṇo ’pi svayambhuvaḥ ||
The verse highlights the ethical danger of arrogance: Duryodhana’s boast that even gods cannot overcome his forces reflects overconfidence and a drift toward adharma, where power is mistaken for righteousness and invincibility.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war negotiations and preparations, Duryodhana asserts the supposed invincibility of his army, claiming that even Indra could not conquer it and even Brahmā could not destroy it—revealing his hardened resolve against reconciliation.
