उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय 33: धृतराष्ट्र-विदुर संवादः (विदुरनीतिः)

अनारशभ्या भवन्त्यर्था: केचिन्नित्यं तथागता: । कृत: पुरुषकारो हि भवेद्‌ येषु निरर्थक:

anāraśabhyā bhavanty arthāḥ kecin nityaṃ tathāgatāḥ | kṛtaḥ puruṣakāro hi bhaved yeṣu nirarthakaḥ ||

វិទុរៈមានពាក្យថា៖ គោលបំណងខ្លះៗ ដោយសភាពរបស់វា មិនអាចសម្រេចបានជានិច្ចទេ ដូច្នេះមិនគួរចាប់ផ្តើមធ្វើឡើយ។ ព្រោះក្នុងករណីដូច្នោះ សូម្បីតែការខិតខំប្រឹងប្រែងរបស់មនុស្ស—ទោះស្មោះត្រង់ក៏ដោយ—ក៏ចុងក្រោយក្លាយជាឥតប្រយោជន៍។ អ្នកប្រាជ្ញដែលដឹងថាអ្វីអាចធ្វើបាន និងអ្វីមិនអាចធ្វើបាន មិនបោះបង់ចិត្តកម្លាំងទៅលើអ្វីដែលមិននាំមកនូវផលល្អពិតប្រាកដឡើយ។
