भीष्म–जामदग्न्यसंवादः (Amba-prasaṅga and Kurukṣetra Dvandva Declaration) / Bhishma–Jamadagnya Dialogue
योत्स्ये त्वया रणे राम सदृशेनाधिकेन वा । गुरुणा धर्मशीलेन जयमाशास्व मे विभो
yotsye tvayā raṇe rāma sadṛśenādhikena vā | guruṇā dharmaśīlena jayam āśāsva me vibho ||
ភីស្មៈ «ឱ រាមៈ (បរាសុរាម) ទោះបីក្នុងសង្គ្រាម អ្នកស្មើខ្ញុំ ឬលើសខ្ញុំក៏ដោយ អ្នកជាគ្រូដ៏គួរគោរពរបស់ខ្ញុំ អ្នកឈរលើធម៌។ ខ្ញុំនឹងប្រយុទ្ធជាមួយអ្នកលើសមរភូមិនេះ ដូច្នេះ ឱអង្គមានអំណាច សូមប្រទានពរឲ្យខ្ញុំឈ្នះ»។
भीष्म उवाच
Even in unavoidable conflict, dharma requires maintaining reverence for one’s teacher and acknowledging moral authority; Bhīṣma upholds the guru’s dignity while affirming his own kṣatriya resolve to fight.
In the Bhīṣma–Paraśurāma confrontation, Bhīṣma addresses Paraśurāma as his dharmic guru, declares his intent to fight him in battle, and paradoxically requests the guru’s benediction for victory—highlighting the tension between duty and personal reverence.
