अम्बा–राम–भीष्म संवादः
Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
काश्ये न काम गृह्नामि शस्त्र वै वरवर्णिनि । ऋते ब्रह्मविदां हेतो: किमनयत् करवाणि ते
kāśye na kāma gṛhṇāmi śastraṃ vai varavarṇini | ṛte brahmavidāṃ hetoḥ kim anyat karavāṇi te ||
«នាងស្រស់ស្អាត ព្រះនាងក្សត្រីកូនកាសី អ្នកមានពណ៌សម្បុរល្អ! ខ្ញុំមិនយកអាវុធឡើងដោយចិត្តប្រាថ្នាផ្ទាល់ខ្លួនទេ។ លើកលែងតែមានហេតុដែលពាក់ព័ន្ធនឹងការការពារ ឬគោលបំណងរបស់ព្រះព្រាហ្មណ៍អ្នកដឹងព្រះវេដ (ព្រះវិទូ) ទើបខ្ញុំប្រើអាវុធ។ ដូច្នេះ ខណៈខ្ញុំរក្សាសច្ចាប្រណិធានរបស់ខ្ញុំ តើខ្ញុំអាចបម្រើអ្វីផ្សេងទៀតដល់អ្នកបាន?»

In the Ambā–Bhīṣma–Paraśurāma episode, Ambā urges Paraśurāma to kill Bhīṣma. Paraśurāma replies that he cannot take up arms merely at will; he is bound by his vow and will fight only when a proper cause—especially connected with the duty toward learned Brahmins—arises, and he asks what else he can do for her while keeping his pledge.
