अध्याय ३५१ — उञ्छवृत्ति-व्रतसिद्धेः मानुषस्य परमगतिः
Sūrya–Nāga Dialogue on the Perfected Gleaner-Ascetic
वेदाख्याने श्रुति: कार्या त्वया मतिमतां वर । तस्मात् कुरु यथा5ज्ञप्तं ममैतद् वचन मुने
Vaiśampāyana uvāca |
vedākhyāne śrutiḥ kāryā tvayā matimatāṁ vara |
tasmāt kuru yathājñaptaṁ mamaitad vacanaṁ mune ||
វៃសម្បាយណៈ បាននិយាយថា៖ «ឱ មុនី អ្នកប្រាជ្ញក្នុងចំណោមអ្នកប្រាជ្ញទាំងអស់! ដើម្បីបកស្រាយវេទៈ អ្នកគួរប្រមូល និងរៀបចំស្រុតិ (śruti) ដែលបានបង្ហាញ—ឥក (Ṛk), សាមន (Sāman), យជុស (Yajus) និងអ្វីៗផ្សេងទៀត—ឲ្យដាច់ដោយឡែករៀងៗខ្លួន។ ដូច្នេះ ចូរធ្វើការងារនេះតាមដែលខ្ញុំបានបញ្ជា ឱ មុនី។ នេះជាព្រះបន្ទូលរបស់ខ្ញុំចំពោះអ្នក»។

That Vedic knowledge should be preserved and taught through disciplined organization of śruti—collecting and arranging the Vedic materials (Ṛk, Sāman, Yajus, etc.) distinctly—so that explanation and instruction remain accurate and authoritative.
Vaiśampāyana issues a direct instruction to a sage: to undertake the task of compiling/arranging the śruti for the purpose of Vedic exposition, and to execute the work exactly as commanded.
