Educational Q&A

The verse points to a primordial condition beyond ordinary opposites—night/day, existence/non-existence, manifest/unmanifest—suggesting that ultimate reality (or the pre-creation state) cannot be captured by conventional categories.

Arjuna is speaking in a reflective, philosophical context, describing a pre-cosmic or dissolution-like state where familiar distinctions do not apply, setting up a discussion on the origin of the world and the nature of reality.
