Janaka–Sulabhā Dialogue on Mokṣa and Non-attachment
अवाप्तमेतद्धि मया सनातना- द्विरण्यगर्भाद् गदतो नराधिप । प्रसाद्य यत्नेन तमुग्रचेतसं सनातन ब्रह्म यथाद्य वै त्वया
avāptam etad dhi mayā sanātanād hiraṇyagarbhād gadataḥ narādhipa | prasādya yatnena tam ugracetasaṃ sanātana brahma yathādya vai tvayā ||
វសិષ્ઠៈបាននិយាយថា៖ «ឱ ព្រះមហាក្សត្រ! ខ្ញុំក៏បានទទួលធម៌ដ៏អស់កាលនេះពីបុរាណ—ហិរញ្ញគರ್ಭ (Hiraṇyagarbha)—នៅពេលដែលទ្រង់កំពុងបង្ហាញវា។ ដោយខិតខំយ៉ាងស្មោះត្រង់ ខ្ញុំបានធ្វើឲ្យព្រះព្រហ្មា (Brahmā) ដ៏មានចិត្តខ្លាំងនោះពេញព្រះហឫទ័យ ហើយដូច្នេះបានទទួលចំណេះដឹងដ៏មិនចាស់នេះ—ដូចដែលព្រះអង្គបានទទួលចំណេះដឹងអំពីព្រះព្រហ្មដ៏អស់កាលពីខ្ញុំថ្ងៃនេះដែរ»។

Educational Q&A
Spiritual knowledge of the eternal Brahman is transmitted through an authentic lineage and is gained through both personal effort (yatna) and the teacher’s grace (prasāda). Vasiṣṭha emphasizes continuity: what the king receives now is the same timeless wisdom Vasiṣṭha once received from Hiraṇyagarbha (Brahmā).
Vasiṣṭha addresses a king and explains the provenance of the doctrine he has taught: he himself learned it directly from Hiraṇyagarbha/Brahmā after striving to please him. He draws a parallel between his own earlier discipleship and the king’s present reception of the teaching.
