Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī
na ca taṃ bhāgineyāya parvatāya mahātmane
The verse highlights dharma in the form of fair dealing and kinship obligation: denying a rightful portion to a deserving relative (a sister’s son, described as mahātmā) is ethically blameworthy and becomes a marker of adharma.
Śrī Kṛṣṇa (as speaker) refers to an act of withholding—someone did not grant a due share/portion to his sister’s son Parvata, characterized as a noble person—framing the incident as morally significant within the broader Shānti Parva discussion of righteous conduct.
