व्यास उवाच
A disciple should cultivate humility and discipline in the guru’s household: take the lowest place to rest, rise before the teacher, and personally perform the appropriate duties of a student (even those akin to a servant’s tasks) as part of ethical formation.
Vyāsa is laying down norms of conduct (ācāra) connected with dharma in the context of instruction: he describes how one should behave while living with the teacher—especially the attitude of service and readiness in daily routines.
