आत्मदर्शन-उपदेशः (Ātma-darśana Upadeśa) — Mind, Senses, and the All-pervading Self
अन्य युगोंमें शास्त्रोक्त धर्मका क्रमश: एक-एक चरण क्षीण होता जाता है और चोरी, असत्य तथा छल-कपट आदिके द्वारा अधर्मकी वृद्धि होने लगती है ।।
anye yugeṣu śāstroktasya dharmasya kramaśa ekaikaḥ pādaḥ kṣīyate, cauryānṛta-chala-kapaṭādibhiś cādharmasya vṛddhir bhavati. arogāḥ sarva-siddhārthāś catur-varṣa-śatāyuṣaḥ kṛte; tretā-yuge tv eṣāṃ pādaśo hrasate vayaḥ.
វ្យាសបានពន្យល់ថា ពេលពិភពលោកឆ្លងកាត់យុគជាបន្តបន្ទាប់ ធម៌ដែលគម្ពីរបញ្ញត្តិបានដាក់កំណត់ នឹងបាត់បង់សសរគាំទ្ររបស់វាម្តងមួយៗ។ ពេលចោរកម្ម កុហក និងល្បិចកលរីករាលដាល អធម៌ក៏កើនឡើងតាមនោះដែរ។ ក្នុងក្រឹតយុគ (សត្យយុគ) មនុស្សគ្មានជំងឺ បំណងទាំងឡាយសម្រេច ហើយមានអាយុបួនរយឆ្នាំ; ពេលត្រេតាយុគមកដល់ អាយុកាលថយចុះមួយភាគបួន ហើយបន្តថយចុះដូច្នេះទៅក្នុងយុគក្រោយៗ។

Dharma, as upheld by śāstra, weakens progressively across the yugas; as virtues decline, theft, falsehood, and deceit expand, and human wellbeing—symbolized by health and lifespan—also diminishes.
Vyāsa is instructing about the characteristics of the world-ages: in Kṛta people are healthy and long-lived, and with the advent of later yugas their lifespan reduces stepwise, alongside a rise of adharma through unethical behaviors.
