इष्टश्नानिष्टगन्धश्न मधुर: कटुरेव च । निहरि संहत: स्निग्धो रूक्षो विशद एव च
iṣṭaśnān iṣṭagandhaś ca madhuraḥ kaṭur eva ca | nihāri saṃhataḥ snigdho rūkṣo viśada eva ca ||
ភារទ្វាជៈ បានមានពាក្យថា៖ «អាហារអាចត្រូវបានបរិភោគដោយចិត្តរីករាយ និងមានក្លិនឈ្ងុយ; វាអាចផ្អែម ឬក៏ហឹរ។ វាអាចខាប់ដូចសម្ល ឬរឹងជាប់ល្អ; អាចមានខ្លាញ់ ឬស្ងួត; ហើយក៏អាចថ្លា ស្អាត បរិសុទ្ធផងដែរ»។
