Janaka’s Renunciation Questioned; Discourse on Dāna and Detachment
“सदा ही याचना करनेवालेको और दम्भीको दी हुई दक्षिणा दावानलमें दी गयी आहुतिके समान व्यर्थ है ।।
jātavedā yathā rājan nādagdhvaivopaśāmyati | sadaiva yācamāno hi tathā śāmyati na dvijaḥ ||
ព្រះរាជា! ដូចភ្លើងមិនរលត់ឡើយ ប្រសិនបើមិនទាន់បានស៊ីឈើឥន្ធនៈជាមុន ស្រដៀងគ្នានោះដែរ ព្រាហ្មណ៍ដែលសុំទានជានិច្ច មិនអាចឈានដល់សេចក្តីស្ងប់ក្នុងចិត្តបាន ដរាបណាទម្លាប់សុំទានមិនទាន់ផុត។ ទាន (dakṣiṇā) ដែលផ្តល់ឲ្យអ្នកសុំទានមិនឈប់ និងអ្នកលាក់ពុត ត្រូវប្រៀបដូចអាហុតិដែលបោះចូលក្នុងភ្លើងព្រៃ—ខាតបង់ឥតផល និងមិនបង្កើតផលល្អឡើយ។
