जनकस्य युद्धोपदेशः — Janaka’s Instruction on Steadfast Battle-Conduct
त्यागमूलं हि शूराणां स्वर्गद्वारमनुत्तमम् । इत्युक्तास्ते नृपतिना योधा: परपुरंजय
tyāgamūlaṃ hi śūrāṇāṃ svargadvāram anuttamam | ity uktās te nṛpatinā yodhāḥ parapuraṃjayāḥ |
ភីṣ្មៈបានមានព្រះបន្ទូលថា៖ «សម្រាប់វីរបុរស ទ្វារចូលទៅសួគ៌ដ៏លើសលប់ មានឫសគល់នៅក្នុងការលះបង់—ការសះស្បើយខ្លួនឯង»។ ពេលព្រះមហាក្សត្របានមានព្រះបន្ទូលដូច្នេះ អ្នកយោធាទាំងនោះ—អ្នកឈ្នះទីក្រុងសត្រូវ—បានទទួលយកពាក្យលើកទឹកចិត្តនោះ ដោយបង្កើនសេចក្តីរីករាយរបស់ព្រះអម្ចាស់នៅលើសមរភូមិ ហើយបានឈ្នះសត្រូវរបស់ព្រះអង្គ។ ដូច្នេះ បុរសមានចិត្តមាំមួនគួរតែឈរយ៉ាងមិនរអាក់រអួល នៅមាត់សង្គ្រាមជានិច្ច។
