Adhyāya 14: Śalya’s Missile-Pressure and the Pāṇḍava Convergence (शल्यस्य शरवर्षम्)
sa cchinnaṃ musalaṃ dṛṣṭvā drauṇiḥ paramakopanaḥ

The verse highlights how anger (kopa) can surge from wounded pride or sudden setback in conflict, pushing a warrior toward harsher actions; it implicitly warns that unchecked wrath clouds judgment and deepens the cycle of violence.
Sañjaya reports that Drauṇi (Aśvatthāmā), upon noticing that a mace/club has been broken, becomes intensely enraged—setting the emotional tone for his next response in the battle episode.
