संजय उवाच
The verse reflects the kshatriya battlefield ethic: decisive confrontation is considered “proper” when it arises from a clear cause (the fall or disabling of a key warrior). It highlights how duty and martial honor can frame even dangerous outcomes as desirable when they lead to a direct, fated encounter.
Sanjaya describes a tactical expectation: if Bhima is killed or made chariotless, Arjuna (Partha) will be provoked to advance and engage. Sanjaya views Arjuna’s approach as an advantageous or fitting development, implying an anticipated escalation to a major duel.
