Babhruvāhana and Dhanaṃjaya’s engagement at Maṇipūra
āgato 'ḍyaṃ mahābāho tasya mandasya putrakaḥ
The verse hints at an ethical caution: labeling someone as ‘manda’ (lacking discernment) frames how others view him and even his family; it invites reflection on discernment (buddhi) and the social consequences of perceived folly.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana announces to the addressed hero (‘mahābāho’) that the son of a certain man—described as dull-witted—has arrived, signaling the entry of this boy into the ongoing episode.
