Arjuna’s request to Krishna and the opening of the Kāśyapa–Brāhmaṇa mokṣa discourse (Āśvamedhika-parva 16)
उपपन्नं च तत्सव॑॑ श्रुतचारित्रसंयुतम् । भावेनातोषयच्चैनं गुरुवृत्त्या परंतप:
upapannaṃ ca tat sarvaṃ śrutacāritrasaṃyutam | bhāvenātoṣayac cainaṃ guruvṛttyā paraṃtapaḥ ||
ឃើញថាមហាឥសីនោះមានគ្រប់លក្ខណៈសម្បត្តិ—ចំណេះដឹងដែលបានមកពីការស្តាប់ព្រះវេដ និងជីវិតមានវិន័យ—កាស្យប អ្នកបំផ្លាញសត្រូវ បានចូលទៅជិតតាមរបៀបត្រឹមត្រូវ។ ដោយសេចក្តីស្មោះពីចិត្ត និងការប្រព្រឹត្តដូចសិស្សចំពោះគ្រូ គាត់បានបម្រើ និងធ្វើឲ្យមហាត្មាសិទ្ធៈនោះពេញចិត្ត។

Spiritual worth is measured by learning joined to upright conduct, and a disciple progresses through sincere inner devotion (bhāva) expressed as respectful service and proper teacher-oriented conduct (guru-vṛtti).
Kāśyapa encounters an accomplished sage, recognizes his qualifications (learning and character), accepts him as a guru, serves him with devotion, and thereby satisfies the sage.
