भीष्म उवाच
A disciplined observance—fasting for a full day and night on Śrāvaṇa Dvādaśī and worshipping Viṣṇu as Śrīdhara—is presented as a powerful dharmic act, yielding merit equivalent to the pañca-mahāyajñas and leading to exalted posthumous happiness.
Bhīṣma, instructing on dharma and religious observances, describes the फल (reward) of a specific vrata: worship of Śrīdhara on the Dvādaśī tithi in Śrāvaṇa with an ahorātra fast, resulting in great merit and heavenly enjoyment symbolized by riding a vimāna.
