Lord Vishnu (speaking to Garuda/Vinata-putra in the Garuda Purana dialogue frame)
Concept: Nāma precedes and ripens into darśana; the Lord is approached through the sweetness of His names, producing embodied devotion (tāla, clapping).
Vedantic Theme: Nāma as upāya (means) to īśvara-sākṣātkāra; bhakti as a direct purifier of antaḥkaraṇa.
Application: Regularly chant Hari/Śrīnivāsa-nāma with attention and joy; allow kīrtana to mature into prayer for darśana and compassionate presence.
Primary Rasa: bhakti
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.24.48-50 (Śrīnivāsa-nāma, darśana-prārthanā)
This verse presents nāma-grahaṇa (taking up the divine Name) as the first step of devotion, leading to direct longing for the Lord (Śrīnivāsa) and an absorbed, transformative state of bhakti.
Rather than focusing on fear of afterlife punishments, this verse highlights the devotional path: repeated remembrance of Vishnu through His names refines consciousness and turns the seeker toward darśana—spiritual ‘seeing’ of the Lord.
Adopt daily nāma-japa or kīrtana of Hari/Śrīnivāsa; let practice move from mere recitation to heartfelt relish, and support it with rhythmic focus (tāla) to steady attention and cultivate devotion.
