Raja Vidya Raja Guhya Yoga
मयाध्यक्षेण प्रकृतिः सूयते सचराचरम् । हेतुनानेन कौन्तेय जगद्विपरिवर्तते ॥ ९.१० ॥
mayādhyakṣeṇa prakṛtiḥ sūyate sa-carācaram | hetunānena kaunteya jagad viparivartate || 9.10 ||
O Kaunteya, under My presiding power Prakṛti brings forth the moving and the unmoving; by this cause the world revolves again and again.
हे कौन्तेय! मेरी अध्यक्षता में प्रकृति चर-अचर सहित जगत को उत्पन्न करती है; इसी कारण यह जगत घूमता (परिवर्तित होता) रहता है।
With Me as overseer, nature gives birth to the moving and the unmoving; because of this cause, O son of Kuntī, the world process turns.
‘अध्यक्ष’ implies supervision/governance rather than hands-on mechanical causation. Interpretations vary between theism (Īśvara as regulator) and Sāṅkhya-like coordination (prakṛti as proximate cause under a higher principle).
It can support a stance that recognizes lawful processes (habit, environment, systems) while also affirming a guiding orientation (values, conscience, or higher purpose) that ‘oversees’ how one relates to them.
Nature (prakṛti) is presented as generating the manifest world, while the divine functions as overseer/regulator, grounding cosmic order and ongoing transformation.
This verse summarizes the preceding cosmology: repeated manifestation occurs through prakṛti, but not independently of the divine principle.
It can be read as a model integrating natural causation with normative oversight: acknowledging science-like regularities while maintaining ethical and contemplative governance over one’s actions.
