Māyāmoha’s Delusion, Rejection of the Vedic Path, and the Fault of Heretical Association
tasmād etān naro nagnāṃs trayīsaṃtyāgadūṣitān sarvadā varjayet prājña ālāpasparśanādiṣu
Sage Parāśara (in instruction to Maitreya)
This verse treats fidelity to the Veda as a marker of dharmic legitimacy; abandoning the Trayī is portrayed as a spiritual corruption that a wise person should avoid.
Parāśara frames association itself as influential: one should avoid even casual interaction—talk, touch, and related contact—with those seen as having rejected Vedic foundations.
In the Vishnu Purana, sustaining dharma and Vedic order is part of aligning with Vishnu as the supreme sustaining principle; right conduct supports the cosmic order Vishnu preserves.
