The verse links inner discipline (fasting and restraint) with outer purification (ritual bathing), teaching that sustained self-control can compress and intensify spiritual merit—symbolically equating one well-performed act with the fruit of long practice.
This is ancillary dharma/ācāra material (vrata-vidhi). It does not directly map to the core pañcalakṣaṇa topics (sarga, pratisarga, vaṃśa, manvantara, vaṃśānucarita), but belongs to the Purāṇic instruction layer supporting dharma.
‘Unbroken year’ (akhaṇḍa-vatsara) signifies continuity of devotion; the ‘second day’ observance implies regulated timing, suggesting that sacred time (kāla) becomes a vehicle for transforming ordinary acts into concentrated spiritual attainment.
