Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: Universalizes Tripuṇḍra practice across varṇa/āśrama, framing it as a broadly accessible Śaiva sādhana that supports purity and devotion regardless of social station.
It affirms Tripuṇḍra-bhasma as a universally valid Shaiva mark for all varṇas and āśramas, emphasizing inner devotion and purity—an outward sign of Pati-bhakti that supports liberation-oriented discipline.
Tripuṇḍra is a bodily seal of allegiance to Shiva and a preparatory rite for Linga worship; it aligns the devotee with Saguna Shiva’s ritual path while pointing to the purifying, transcendent intent behind the form.
Apply sacred ash as Tripuṇḍra with reverence—ideally accompanied by Shaiva mantras (such as the Panchākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as part of daily worship and contemplative remembrance of Shiva.
