एतच्छिवपुराणं यः पठञ्छृण्वन्हि नित्यशः । यद्यत्करोति सत्कर्म तत्कोटिगुणितं भवेत्
etacchivapurāṇaṃ yaḥ paṭhañchṛṇvanhi nityaśaḥ | yadyatkaroti satkarma tatkoṭiguṇitaṃ bhavet
この『シヴァ・プラーナ』を常に読み、また聴聞する者は、その後に行ういかなる善行(サットカルマ)も、シヴァの聖なる教えの加持により、コーティ倍に増大する。
Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Significance: General phalaśruti: regular pāṭha-śravaṇa sanctifies all subsequent satkarma, amplifying merit and accelerating purification toward Śiva’s grace.
Type: stotra
Role: nurturing
It teaches that śravaṇa (listening) and pāṭha (recitation) of the Śiva Purāṇa sanctify the seeker so deeply that all subsequent dharmic actions bear vastly greater spiritual fruit, strengthening devotion to Pati (Śiva) and aiding liberation.
By praising the power of hearing and reciting Śiva’s Purāṇa, the verse supports Saguna devotion—where Śiva is approached through sacred narrative, praise, and ritual. Such devotion naturally expresses itself as Linga-worship, vrata, and temple service, whose merit is said to increase.
A practical takeaway is daily Śiva Purāṇa śravaṇa/pāṭha as a vrata—ideally alongside simple Śiva-upāsanā such as offering water to the Liṅga and mentally repeating the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
