Praṇava-Māhātmya and the Twofold Mantra (Sūkṣma–Sthūla) in Śaiva Sādhanā
पुनः कारणसत्यांताः कारणब्रह्मणस्तथा । गंधादिभ्यस्तु भूतेभ्यस्तदूर्ध्वं निर्मिताः सदा
punaḥ kāraṇasatyāṃtāḥ kāraṇabrahmaṇastathā | gaṃdhādibhyastu bhūtebhyastadūrdhvaṃ nirmitāḥ sadā
再び、「因の真実」より始まる諸原理は因性ブラフマンより生起する。さらにその上には、香りという性質をもつ地大などの諸元素から起こり、後続の階梯が常に正しい次第に従って造作される。

Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Sadyojāta
Significance: Maps the descent from causal source to elements/qualities; supports tattva-śuddhi (discernment of bondage) and reorientation toward the causal Brahman/Śiva as the true refuge.
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: Cosmogonic unfolding (tattva-sṛṣṭi) implied
It points to a graded universe: gross elements and their qualities arise in an ordered way from a deeper causal source, ultimately rooted in the Causal Brahman—understood in Shaiva thought as Shiva, the supreme Pati behind all manifestation.
The Linga signifies the causal ground of all forms. By worshipping Saguna Shiva in the Linga, the devotee contemplates the source beyond the elements and qualities, recognizing Shiva as the inner cause supporting the entire hierarchy of creation.
A practical takeaway is Panchakshara japa (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with Linga-dhyana: mentally trace the mind from sensory qualities (like smell, taste, etc.) back to their elemental bases and then to Shiva as the causal reality.
