Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Significance: Links sin-pacification (pāpa-śānti) with calendrical observance (Sunday) and offerings, a common vrata logic used by pilgrims and householders to structure expiatory practice alongside Śiva worship.
Offering: naivedya
It emphasizes that purification (pāpaśānti) is supported by right timing and right offering; aligning one’s practice with dharmic order helps the devotee become fit for deeper Shiva-bhakti and grace.
In the Shiva Purana, external disciplines—such as offerings on auspicious days—serve as preparatory supports for Linga worship, purifying the devotee so devotion to Saguna Shiva can mature toward inner steadiness and liberation.
Make the prescribed offering (nivedana) especially on Sunday for pāpaśānti; accompany it with Shiva-nāma japa (e.g., the Panchākṣarī ‘Om Namaḥ Śivāya’) as a practical takeaway.
