Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages at Naimisharanya)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It highlights the Shaiva Siddhanta principle that when the Lord reveals Himself (darśana), the devotee’s natural response is humility (namaskāra) and praise (stuti), which purify the heart and draw down Shiva’s grace (anugraha).
The verse portrays Saguna worship in practice—encountering Shiva’s manifest presence and responding with pranama and stotra. The same attitude is prescribed before the Shiva-linga: approach with reverence, offer añjali, and praise the Lord as the compassionate Pati who accepts devotion.
A simple practice is indicated: begin Shiva worship with namaskāra and añjali, then recite a Shiva-stotra or the Panchakshara mantra (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a calm, joyful heart, cultivating surrendered devotion.
