उपमन्युकुमारस्य क्षीरार्थ-प्रार्थना तथा शिवप्रसाद-निबन्धनम् | Upamanyu’s Longing for Milk and the Doctrine of Shiva’s Grace
पूर्वजन्मनि यत्कृत्यं शिवमु द्दिश्य हे सुत । तदेव लभ्यते नूनन्नात्र कार्या विचारणा । इति मातृवचश्श्रुन्वा व्याघ्रपादिस्स बालकः
pūrvajanmani yatkṛtyaṃ śivamu ddiśya he suta | tadeva labhyate nūnannātra kāryā vicāraṇā | iti mātṛvacaśśrunvā vyāghrapādissa bālakaḥ
「わが子よ、前世において主シヴァを目当てとしてなした行いは、その果報が必ず今ここに現れる。疑うにも及ばず、思い巡らす必要もないのです。」母の言葉を聞いて、少年ヴィヤーグラパーダはそれを胸に刻んだ。
