The verse highlights dharmic order: taking one’s due without honoring what is owed to another becomes a cause for imbalance, reminding seekers that right allotment and fairness are part of righteous living under Shiva’s moral cosmos.
Though not directly about the Liṅga, it supports Saguna Shiva’s role as the upholder of dharma—worship is incomplete if one ignores ethical duty and rightful offerings, which are integral to Shaiva conduct.
A practical takeaway is to begin worship and daily actions with proper offering and acknowledgment—mentally dedicating one’s ‘share’ to Shiva (īśvara-arpana) before enjoyment, supported by japa of the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
