スータは言った。「おお二度生まれの聖者たちよ、真実の帰依をもって、この至上にして驚異の物語を聴きなさい。シヴァの威徳と栄光に満ち、聞く者のバクティを増大させる。」
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Mahadeva
Sthala Purana: Sūta introduces the forthcoming kathā as ‘paramādbhutā’ and ‘śiva-prabhāva-saṃmiśrā’, explicitly stating its effect: it increases bhakti for listeners—classic Purāṇic phalaśruti style preface.
Significance: Elevates śravaṇa of Śiva-kathā as a devotional sādhana; hearing itself becomes a vehicle of grace and inner transformation.
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
It establishes śravaṇa (devotional listening) as a direct means to deepen bhakti; hearing Śiva’s glory purifies the mind and turns the soul (paśu) toward the Lord (Pati), preparing it for grace and liberation.
By praising a kathā “imbued with Śiva’s prabhāva,” it points to Saguna devotion—approaching Śiva through His manifest glory, deeds, and sacred forms (including the Liṅga), where attentive hearing becomes an act of worship.
Devotional śravaṇa: regularly listen to or recite Shiva Purana kathā with sincere bhakti; as a practical takeaway, pair it with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” to stabilize attention and devotion.
