Tattva Level: pashu
Role: teaching
The verse highlights sādhvī-dharma: truthful speech (tathya) expressed with compassion (kṛpā). In Shaiva ethics, purity of intention and clarity of speech support inner śuddhi, which becomes a foundation for bhakti and eventual grace (anugraha).
Though it is a narrative inquiry rather than direct ritual instruction, it reflects the Shaiva emphasis on satya and dharma as prerequisites for fruitful worship. Approaching Saguna Shiva (and Linga worship) is traditionally supported by truthful conduct and respectful dialogue.
The practical takeaway is satya-vrata (commitment to truth) and compassionate speech as a daily discipline; this aligns well with japa done in a sāttvika mood—such as steady repetition of the Panchākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with sincerity.
