Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Role: teaching
It teaches śauca (purity) and restrained conduct as supports for Shaiva sadhana—outer cleanliness and careful behavior help steady the mind for devotion to Pati (Shiva) and reduce tamasic negligence.
Linga worship emphasizes reverence and purity in approach; avoiding unclean or careless acts and maintaining personal grooming are practical disciplines that honor Saguna Shiva in ritual space and prepare the devotee for focused upasana.
A simple achara: keep the worship area clean, avoid scattering impurities on the ground, and maintain bodily hygiene (including trimming nails and beard) before japa, dhyana, or performing Shiva puja.
