月の第五日、あるいは満月の日に、定められた朝の作法を終え、師(グル)より許可を得たなら、沐浴し、心を律して揺るがぬまま、シヴァ礼拝の儀へと進むべきである。
Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Significance: Emphasizes adhikāra (fitness) for Śiva-pūjā through śauca, niyama, and guru-anugraha; such preparation is held to make worship fruitful and remove impediments (vighna) to sādhana.
It teaches that Śiva-worship should begin with purity of body and steadiness of mind, and that spiritual practice becomes fruitful when undertaken with the guru’s sanction and disciplined intent.
It sets the preparatory framework for Saguna worship such as Liṅga-pūjā: perform morning observances, take a purifying bath, and approach the rite with mental restraint, honoring the guru as the gateway to correct Śaiva procedure.
Perform prātar-kriyā (morning duties), bathe for śauca (purity), take the guru’s permission, and cultivate niyata-manas (focused mind) before beginning japa or pūjā—commonly including pañcākṣarī-japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) in Śaiva practice.
