अङ्गदोपदेशः समुद्रदर्शन-विषादश्च
Angada’s Counsel and the Vanaras’ Despondency at the Ocean
अभिक्रम्य तु तं देशं ददृशुर्भीमविक्रमाः।कृत्स्नं लोकस्य महतः प्रतिबिम्बमिव स्थितम्।।।।
abhikramya tu taṃ deśaṃ dadṛśur bhīmavikramāḥ |
kṛtsnaṃ lokasya mahataḥ pratibimbam iva sthitam ||
その地に至ると、凄まじき武勇を備えた猿たちは大海を見た。広大にして、まるで大いなる世界そのものの影がそこに立つかのようであった。
After hearing Angada, no one spoke a word. The entire army of monkeys became still and motionless.
Dharma here appears as steadfastness in duty: the search-party advances to the boundary of the world (the ocean) without abandoning Rama’s mission, even when confronted by overwhelming magnitude.
The southern search-party of vānaras arrives at the seashore during the quest for Sītā and pauses to take in the ocean’s immensity.
Collective courage and resolve (vīrya/utsāha) of the vānaras, who proceed up to the daunting obstacle rather than turning back early.
