Sugriva on Surveying the Earth’s Regions
ततः क्षतजवेगेन आपुपूरे तदा बिलम्।तदहं विस्मितो दृष्ट्वा भ्रातृशोकविषार्दितः।।।।
tataḥ kṣataja-vegena āpupūre tadā bilam | tad ahaṃ vismito dṛṣṭvā bhrātṛ-śoka-viṣārditaḥ ||
すると血の奔流によって洞窟は満ちた。それを見て私は呆然とし、兄への悲しみに打ちひしがれた。
'There seeing the cave overflowing with the gushing blood, I was bewildered, thinking that my brother might have been killed. I suffered intense agony.
Dharma recognizes the weight of kinship and compassion; the verse shows how grief can arise from incomplete knowledge, urging careful judgment.
