Tara’s Counsel to Vali on Sugriva’s Roar and Rama’s Alliance
लालनीयो हि ते भ्राता यवीयानेष वानरः।तत्र वा सन्निहस्थो वा सर्वथा बन्धुरेव ते।।
lālanīyo hi te bhrātā yavīyān eṣa vānaraḥ |
tatra vā sannihastho vā sarvathā bandhur eva te ||
この猿はあなたの弟であり、あなたの庇護を受けるに値します。彼がどこにいようとも、あらゆる点において彼はあなたの身内なのです。
'This monkey is your younger brother and, therefore, deserves your protection. Whether he is here or there, he is your brother.
Dharma is protection of one’s own kin—especially a younger brother—placing familial responsibility above pride and resentment.
Tārā reminds Vālī that Sugrīva is his younger brother and should be treated as family regardless of location or circumstance.
