विषादात्विह मां दृष्ट्वा पौरैर्मन्त्रिभिरेव च।।अभिषिक्तो न कामेन तन्मेत्वं क्षन्तुमर्हसि।
viṣādād iha māṃ dṛṣṭvā paurair mantribhir eva ca | abhiṣikto na kāmena tan me tvaṃ kṣantum arhasi ||
ここで悲嘆に沈む私を見て、民と大臣たちは私に灌頂(かんじょう)を施し、王位に就けました――しかしそれは私の望みではありません。ゆえに、そのことをどうかお赦しください。
'Here I was consecrated by the people and ministers who saw me immersed in grief. It was not my desire to be coronated. Therefore, I may be forgiven.
Dharma includes acknowledging constrained choices and seeking reconciliation—Sugrīva appeals to truth (satya) about his lack of ambition and requests forgiveness.
Sugrīva explains that his consecration happened because ministers and citizens acted in crisis, not because he sought the throne.
