The verse highlights kṣatriya-dharma: when confronted by hostile forces, a warrior must step forward with courage and steadiness. The imagery of sun-like radiance and the prominent banner emphasizes inner resolve made visible through disciplined action.
Arjuna advances to engage the opposing warriors, moving out to face them on all sides. He does so in a splendid chariot with a streaming flag, identified by the monkey-emblem banner (vānaradhvaja), marking him as the principal challenger in the coming fight.
