Dhaumya’s Counsel on Incognito Conduct in a Royal Household (राजवसतौ आचरण-निति)
अमानितैरमननितैर्वा अज्ञातै: परिवत्सरम् ततश्नतुर्दशे वर्षे चरिष्पथ यथासुखम्,वहाँ तुम्हारा अपमान हो या सम्मान, सब कुछ सहकर एक वर्षतक अज्ञातभावसे रहना चाहिये। तदनन्तर चौदहवें वर्षमें तुमलोग अपनी इच्छाके अनुसार सुखपूर्वक विचरण कर सकोगे
amānitair amanitair vā ajñātaiḥ parivatsaram | tataś caturdaśe varṣe cariṣyatha yathāsukham ||
ドゥハウミヤは言った。「辱めを受けようと誉れを受けようと、すべてを耐え、まる一年、他人に知られぬまま身を隠して過ごせ。そうすれば、その後の十四年目には、己の望むままに、自由に安らかに歩み回ることができよう。」
धौग्य उवाच
To uphold dharma through disciplined restraint: one should endure both honour and insult without losing composure, and faithfully complete the required period of concealment; only after fulfilling the vow does rightful freedom and happiness follow.
Dhaumya instructs the exiled heroes that they must spend a full year living unrecognized, patiently bearing whatever treatment they receive; once that final year is completed, they may move about openly in the fourteenth year according to their will.
