Virāṭa-parva Adhyāya 22 — Draupadī’s Abduction Attempt and Bhīma’s Suppression of the Kīcakas
akasmān māṁ praśaṁsanti sadā gṛhagātāḥ striyaḥ | suvāsā darśanīyaś ca nānyo 'sti tvādṛśaḥ pumān ||
The verse implicitly cautions that sudden praise—especially focused on внешняя привлекательность/appearance—can mislead; a dharmic stance is to remain steady-minded, not intoxicated by flattering words, and to value conduct over mere display.
Vaiśampāyana reports a situation where the women of the household unexpectedly begin praising the speaker, calling him well-dressed and handsome, asserting that no other man compares to him.
