Educational Q&A

The verse underscores dharma through tīrtha-sevā and dāna: after ritual purification at holy places, one should practice generosity (especially go-dāna and vitta-dāna), sustaining righteousness even during adversity.

Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that the Pāṇḍavas reach the sacred tīrthas on the river Gomatī, bathe and complete the customary ablutions, and then donate cows and wealth at that place.
